Yin Yoga & the Five Elements of Ayurveda
Sunday 7 May 9.30 am – 12.00 pm
Salt Yoga, 41A Beach Road, Christies Beach
In Ayurveda, the sister science of Yoga, the Five Elements of nature are more than just physical elements. They symbolise concepts that are fundamental to nature and life. We have Earth, Water, Fire, Air and Ether.
The qualities of these elements are also present in the body where they need to be in balance in order to feel connected and healthy.
We begin the workshop with a short introduction on the Five Elements according to Ayurveda and their relation to our body. Then, we enjoy a 90-minute Yin Yoga session during which we practice poses to cultivate the qualities of those elements within us.
You learn about the qualities of each elements, their importance and how to keep them balanced. During the practice, we focus on each element one by one, adopting different poses for each. We hold the poses for a minimum of three minutes, making this a slow-paced, yet intense practice.
This workshop is suitable for all levels, even if you have never done yoga before. Beginners are given an insight into the world of yoga and Ayurveda. For more advanced practitioners, it is an opportunity to deepen their knowledge and Yin practice.
Yin yoga is a beautiful, meditative style of practice that helps you find balance, space and focus.
Afterwards, l will serve herbal tea and a healthy home-made treat. You are welcome to hang around for a chat.
